Here we have it ladies and gentlemen, our first CAP (Cool Ass People) interview. Just to give you somewhat of an intro, Mr. E-Dub is the result of Jamaican Rum, Belizean Creole, Public School Systems, Midwest Ballers, Detroit Players, Prestigious Universities, Bad Ttimes,
and Good Times. He's a well rounded individual that keeps a money-making ideal at the tip of his tongue. He will bust your ass on the basketball court, then school you on the latest CEO trend. He keeps trash bags with him, but he also keeps a "How to get rich with trash bags" book at hand. Without further trash talking. . .
danZenie - What makes you a CAP?
Mr. E-Dub - Doing what I do, despite the odds, despite the obstacles and continuously raising the bar.
danZenie - If you had a choice of being the CEO of any IT company which one would you choose and why?
Mr. E-Dub - I'd choose HPQ; that company is huge, mad
revenue and brand reorganization. It's all about staying true to the HP
philosophy, an efficient strategy(execution) and staying consistent.
danZenie - Your favorite underdog company? How would you flip it?
Mr. E-Dub - I don't know if we can consider SUN an underdog, but that's the company I'd choose. First, I'd buy back a couple billion dollars worth of stock(a wall street move) Second, I'd leverage some cash and buy Cisco, strengthening SUN's philosophy that "the network is the computer". Revamp the strategy; emphasizing services(grids, security, etc), execution and brand marketing.
danZenie - Company/Person that doesn't deserve to be where they are right now (good/bad), and expound.
Mr. E-Dub - Not for me to say, time will tell.
danZenie - If your choices for a date were (a) Whatever you consider to be your sexual fantasy, and (b) Your favorite all time Entrepreneur whom would you choose, and why?
Mr. E-Dub - Oddly enough, I'd do both at the same time, bang Oprah Winfrey on a bed of money on her private jet while she's giving me advice about entering the entertainment industry. Just, kidding. Actually, I'd rather meet with my favorite Entrepreneur, Warren Buffet; if I can successfully pick his brain and utilize his advice, sexual fantasies would come a dime a dozen.
danZenie - What would the conversation be like?
Mr. E-Dub - Mr. Buffet, this is who I am and this is what I can do. What would you do if you were me, and shooting yourself is not an option?
danZenie - Will there ever be a turn-around year for IT, will we regain the adoration/respect they had for us before the bust?
Mr. E-Dub - A turn around year in the sense that conditions will return to pre-2001, never. I think last year was a good year for the IT industry and conditions have returned to solid ground. Uncertainty still looms and investors are concerned with many things right now. As for the IT profession, there will always be respect, however, there are still a lot of quacks out there who give the business a bad name, but they're slowly being weeded out.
danZenie - If money was not an issue, where would you be right now and what would you be doing?
Mr. E-Dub - I'd be developing Real Estate on an international scale.
danZenie - A fork in the road, where do you go?
Mr. E-Dub - The honest truth, no clue. One things for certain, I'm not going to think about it too long.
danZenie - In 1 word describe each of the following:
- Dell, efficient
- HP, incongruous
- Sun, lost
- Bill Gates, money
- Hustle, life
- Pimp, game
- Happy, children
- Panamanians, muddled
- danZenie, insightful
danZenie - Last words. Please feel free to freestyle.
Mr. E-Dub - I live by the KISS philosophy, why complicate things; develop, manage, deliver and continuously improve. If it were easy, everybody would do it. RTFM.
danZenie and the supremebeings.org team would like to thank Mr. E-Dub for taking time out of his money making schedule to answer our questions. I'm positive a life has been changed (for better or worst). If you think you make an interesting CAP interview, then keep that information to yourself.
