Time to get back into the swing of things around here. We've made a few updates to help things keep moving the way they should. The first thing we decided to do was change the site resolution from fixed width to variable width. As some of you should now notice the site layout should now spread as wide as your browser window displays, as oppose to a limiting 800px width. We figured most of our readers are savvy users, and should have at least a 1024px width screen layout.

Secondly, we changed the old component used for commenting on articles. Honestly this never worked they way it should have worked. Users were getting "access denied/need to login" messages when clicking on the "Add comment" link presented on the frontpage below each article. This was happening even though the component was set to allow comments from anonymous users. Two years is enough of that madness so we now have a WORKING commenting components (thank you visualclinic.fr). Unfortunately because of this we lost previous comments that user added to articles, but this was worth the pain. We're working on restoring those comments from a DB backup.

Thirdly, for security reasons, and we must be honest here look and feel was important , we upgraded our media gallery. This also allowed us to add the gallery module that you see on the left column directly below the main menu. This definitely adds some color to the site, and makes the gallery more visible.

Fourthly, we remove the "Supreme Links" menu, and decided to use Joomla!'s built-in weblink component in order to display links to other site. This gave us some real estate space on the left column, and mode the scrolling gallery component more visible.

Lastly, we temporarily got rid of those google ads. They were terribly slowing down the site, so until we can figure out of way of incorporating them without slowing things down, they will stay off. This is a shame since it is the only way we make money around here to be honest, but we can't afford the hit in performance. It was terrible.
