Verse: This might be a little difficult for some of you to follow if you've never heard the song before. But the lines I'm about to explain were also used in a chorus (by DMC himself) for Notorious B.I.G. song (My Downfall): Line This analysis actually came to life while listening to the Biggie chorus. I was too young to understand what DMC was trying to say back in 1984. Nevertheless the point still got across more than 10 years later. Bare with me, we're almost there, but before we start we need to get everyone one to agree on certain things. Common Ground DMC knew this. He knew that it would be considered OUTRAGEOUS, if not LUDACRIS, for someone to pray to a good "God", and ask that good "God" to bring a next brother down. "GALL" is actually an understatement here. Should probably be replaced by "BALLS". "MC's have the BALLS to pray to a good GOD and ask him/her to bring me down". You must have some BALLS going to "God" and asking "God" to do such a thing. What would this prayer sound like? God, I know you're a good God. Filled with so much hatred and envy that it never crossed his/her mind to pray to God so that God can bring them UP to DMC's level. How deep is that? Hate, hate, hate. I got some curry chicken at home waiting. OUT!! |
