“In Vegas, everybody's gotta watch everybody else. Since the players are looking to beat the casino, the dealers are watching the players. The box men are watching the dealers. The floor men are watching the box men. The pit bosses are watching the floor men. The shift bosses are watching the pit bosses. The casino manager is watching the shift bosses. I'm watching the casino manager. And the eye-in-the-sky is watching us all.”

Run-D.M.C.Now don't get it confused, the Lyrical Analysis will in no way, shape, or form be limited to analyzing strictly Hip Hop lyrics. Sooner or later all genres will be exploited, but for now this is what we have. This time supremebeings.org takes a second to analyze you a few lines from a 1984 classic, Run-D.M.C. - Together Forever (Live at Hollis Park '84). Now I know that most are you are probably thinking "1984? WTF is wrong with danZenie?". But hold steady youngen. This one is gonna crack your skull wide open. And you thought that hatred in the Industry was a new thing

Verse:
[D.M.C.]
No way to rock me, no way to stop me
It's seems quite shocking to those that mock me
And that's not all, MC's have the gall
To pray and plan for my downfall
But I'm not running, I'm just stunning
Smart not stupid cause I'm so cunning
MC's regret it, I'm upsetting
My recitals take titles and titles I'm betting

This might be a little difficult for some of you to follow if you've never heard the song before. But the lines I'm about to explain were also used in a chorus (by DMC himself) for Notorious B.I.G. song (My Downfall):

Line
[DMC]
That's not all, MC's have the gall
To pray and pray for my downfall
Pray and pray for my downfall
Pray and pray for my downfall

This analysis actually came to life while listening to the Biggie chorus. I was too young to understand what DMC was trying to say back in 1984. Nevertheless the point still got across more than 10 years later. Bare with me, we're almost there, but before we start we need to get everyone one to agree on certain things.

Common Ground
First we have to agree that when DMC talks about praying he's talking about praying to a God. Second we have to agree that DMC's concept of "God" is similar, if not equal to, many of the major religions concept's of "God". Where "God" is considered to be a good "God", though at certain times a punishing "God", but for the most part a good "God". Be it Jesus Christ, be it Allah, be it Budah, the point is that they're all considered by their followers to be good "Gods".

DMC knew this. He knew that it would be considered OUTRAGEOUS, if not LUDACRIS, for someone to pray to a good "God", and ask that good "God" to bring a next brother down. "GALL" is actually an understatement here. Should probably be replaced by "BALLS". "MC's have the BALLS to pray to a good GOD and ask him/her to bring me down". You must have some BALLS going to "God" and asking "God" to do such a thing. What would this prayer sound like?

God, I know you're a good God.
So today I come to you with an open heart
Asking you to bring DMC down.
Bring him down God!!!
There is no way to stop him
There is no way to rock him But I know you can take him down God!!!

Filled with so much hatred and envy that it never crossed his/her mind to pray to God so that God can bring them UP to DMC's level. How deep is that? Hate, hate, hate. I got some curry chicken at home waiting. OUT!!
