On a real quiet note, and just like that... she is gone. It is safe to say that Dr. King's wife was not one of those civil rights shakers that remained in the public eye mainly because of marriege/association. Sad to say she didn't live long enough to see many of our people stop making jackasses out of themselves. 78 is "young", especially for a black women. R.I.P. Coretta.
Coretta Scott King, 78, Widow of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Dies
Snippet #1: Mrs. King did not hesitate to pick up his mantle, marching, even before her husband was buried, at the head of the striking garbage workers that he had gone to Memphis to champion. She then went on to lead the effort for a national holiday in his honor and to found the Martin Luther King Jr. Center for Non-Violent Social Change in Atlanta, dedicated both to scholarship and to activism, where Dr. King is buried.
